A message from our Minister - Reverend Martin Goodwin

Hi!  I'm Martin Goodwin, the minister of Rockdale Uniting Church.

For over twenty years now, I’ve been a pastor. This is a privilege that God has granted me – sharing in the lives of people and communities around NSW. My desire is for you and all people to know that God loves you and cares about you, and that Jesus Christ has taught us how to live as people and has shown us the way back to the heart of God.

I saw a great advert recently http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ahg6qcgoay4. Its an awareness test. In counting the number of times a team passes a ball, it is easy to miss the dancing bear that moonwalks across the screen (or attempts to anywayJ). We all get so busy and distracted by what’s going on; juggling many things in our lives that the important stuff just slips on by.

Maybe coming to church might give you a chance to reconsider what is important in life. A time out of time, a place to reflect and pray and meet others who are also seeking answers to the big questions. I might not know the answer to your questions, but I can point you to the One who does.

Blessings on you and all those you love.

Martin Goodwin

Our Children’s and Family worker

Sharon Harnwell was appointed in April 2008 as our Children's and Family worker.   Sharon has been part of our church all her life - initially with Rockdale Congregational Church until the Uniting Church was formed and the congregation joined Bay Street Church to become Rockdale Uniting Church.   She has been involved in the Sunday School and KFC (Kids for Christ) for 15 years as a teacher.  Sharon has also spent her working life with children as a PDHPE teacher and coaching many sport teams.  She loves working with children and is looking forward to supporting the children and families in our Church and in the local community.

Our New Arrivals worker

Thanks also to a grant from NSW Synod of our church, we had Tiny Tse  join us in March 2006 as our New Arrivals Worker.  Tiny's job description is to help provide pastoral care, spiritual nurture and evangelism for new arrivals in our land.  The gifts God has given her for this ministry, her training and her language skills equip her well for this role.
