Mission Statement
We've been
called by God to help each other...
A Safe Place for Children
We affirm that all people
are made in the image of God. We
believe that God reaches out to us in love and
acceptance and calls us to do the same to others.
We believe that children are important.
We are called to demonstrate this belief in our
response to grow and share in the mission of Jesus
Christ.
As a community of faith we
are committed to provide safe places where people are
cared for, nurtured and sustained.
We commit ourselves to the
care, protection and safety of all children and seek to
provide a safe environment where they can encounter God,
develop relationships as part of a community of faith
and grow in their faith and obedience to Jesus Christ.
Sexuality
-
Our Church Council
recognises that the Bible clearly teaches that God
calls us to “celibacy in singleness and faithfulness
in marriage”, and requires our ministers and leaders
adhere to this standard.
However, should the marriage of a minister, leader
or any other church member break down to the degree
that separation and divorce becomes necessary, we
will seek to deal with that situation with
compassion and understanding.
-
Our Church Council
requests any who decide they must leave us because
of the 2003 Assembly’s decisions on sexuality, that
they not simply drift away, but to talk to our
minister so we can at least give them our peace and
blessing. We also request they
write a note of resignation so copies can be sent to
Presbytery, Synod, EMU and the Assembly President.
-
We are committed to keep
praying for our Uniting Church, that God will bring
to us repentance, renewal and new life.
